PARAMETRIC STATISTICS

Parametric methods are used to test hypotheses in the light of certain assumptions about the population from which your sample is drawn. Normally there is an assumption that the population has a normal distribution. Sample statistics such as the mean and standard deviation are estimates of these values - or parameters - for this wider population.
