EXAMPLE 1: All adult male clients seen in clinical psychology in the last year and all adult female clients seen in the same time period. EXAMPLE 2: A sample of 28 children with a diagnosis of autism and 30 children with a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome. EXAMPLE 3: A randomly selected sample of 300 qualified clinical psychologists and 300 trainee clinical psychologists. EXAMPLE 4: Clients seen by clinical psychology in the past 12 months with main presenting problem anxiety, and clients seen in the same time period with main presenting problem depression. EXAMPLE 5: A sample of 19 mothers with at least one child under 5 years, and a sample of 15 mothers with no children under 5 years. NB: We assume in these examples that the two groups contain different people - that is they are mutually exclusive categories.
