Between Group Comparison: Examples

EXAMPLE 1: Suppose you were interested in whether men and women have different attitudes towards people with mental health problems. You might plan to measure attitudes in a randomly selected sample of 100 men and 100 women.

EXAMPLE 2: You have observed that more clinical psychologists seem to be female whereas more psychiatrists seem to be male. You want to test this statistically.

EXAMPLE 3: A clinic has recently changed a specific aspect of its service and wishes to examine whether clients seem more satisfied now that the change has been made. You compare the satisfaction scores of a sample of consecutive clients who were seen under the previous system and a sample of consecutive new clients who are seen under the new system.
