Change in Two Groups: Examples This is where you measure change in two groups, and compare whether there was more change in one of the groups than in the other. EXAMPLE 1: You hypothesize that clients receiving a "pleasant activities" intervention as well as counteracting negative thoughts will improve more on a depression score between the start and end of therapy, compared to clients receiving "pleasant activities" only. EXAMPLE 2: You hypothesize that more clients will move from the clinical to the non-clinical score range on a standardised clinical measure between two time points if they receive cognitive therapy as well as drug therapy, compared to drug therapy alone. EXAMPLE 3: For either of the above examples you might add measurement at a third time point, say 6 or 12 months after the end of the intervention phase, to examine whether there are differences in relapse rate or maintenance of changes made during intervention.
